Downtown Gift Card On Sale Now!

Redeemable at a Wide Variety of Downtown Businesses

Downtown Omaha is staying true to its roots.  The downtown area has gotten a much needed modernized facelift thanks to the area around TD Ameritrade Park, called North Omaha Downtown or NODO for short.  That does not mean Downtown Omaha has forgotten what has made it such a unique place.

Downtown Omaha has and always will be a destination for Omahans and visitors alike.  Not just because of the historic Old Market, Museums, or other cultural events, rather because of the people.  Downtown Omaha has such a wide variety of unique shops and restaurants that it brings people from all walks of life into one place at one time.  No matter who you are or what your background is there is definitely something for everyone to appreciate in Downtown Omaha.

One of the most popular draws about Downtown Omaha is the unique shopping.  Most of the malls in America house the roughly the same stores and big national if not global companies.  Shopping in Downtown Omaha is a little bit different.  Most of the shops are locally owned and operated and have been for the last several decades.  It would be a safe bet to say that there are not many places in Nebraska or the US that you could buy an old school vinyl record, walk a few feet buy a hand rolled cigar, walk a few more feet and buy designer clothes.  The shops in downtown Omaha truly have something for everyone.

The Downtown area is also littered with amazing restaurants and eateries.  From fine dining, to Mexican, to pasta, to French, anything your heart desires can be found in Downtown Omaha.

Why spend your time walking around a mall that is not unique or even that much different than the other mall just a few miles away.  Why not spend your time walking around an area that is as unique as it is historic.  While you shop or eat downtown you are also helping your local small businesses and make sure that they stay locally owned for many years to come.

What better way to gift the gift of fun, food, and shopping to a friend than through the Downtown Gift Card.  The Downtown Omaha Gift Card is the first of its kind that allows recipients to redeem its value at a wide variety of Downtown Omaha’s restaurants, bars, retail and service outlets, event venues, attractions, museums, art galleries, and hotels.  Currently, the gift card can be redeemed at over 65 businesses with more being added every day.  Click here for the complete list of redeeming merchants or go to www.omahadowntown.org.Order your Downtown Gift Card today and let the fun BEGIN!!

The new gift card are available online at www.omahadowntown.org The cards are available in any denomination between $10 and $500, and operate like most gift card programs.  The Omaha Downtown Improvement District Association (DID) oversees the sale and distribution of the gift cards.

Get to the Durham before its too LATE!!

This is it the final weekend for the Capture the Moment: Pulitzer Prize Photograph exhibit at the Durham Museum.  This exhibit's last day is set for July 10th.  This is truly one of those museum exhibits that has the ability to live with you for a long time after you leave.  This exhibit covers momentous events captured on film, from terrible tragedies to against all odd victories, and moments of humane actions.  The Pulitzer Prize exhibit is something very special that everyone in Omaha can go and enjoy.  Everyone will experience different emotions as they gaze at images of human history over the past 50 years.  Some will cry, some will laugh, some may be disgusted, but yet some will even remember what they were doing at the time the photo was taken.  No matter what emotions you feel as you walk through this exhibit, you will leave touched by what you have seen.

Head on down to the Durham Museum to see this amazing and wonderful exhibit before it ends on July 10th.

Where one exhibit ends another begins.  Expedoodle is proud to announce the coming of a brand new exhibit at the end of July to the Durham Museum.  This new upcoming exhibit will highlight one of the most unsung historical figures in our country’s history.  The George Washington Carver Exhibit will be at the Durham from July 30th to October 30th.  This upcoming exhibit will feature more than a hundred artifacts, along with videos, interactive displays, recreated scenes and more.  Visitors will follow along as Carver’s curiosity and persistence take him from a remote frontier town to success as a teacher and researcher at the famed Tuskegee Institute. George Washington Carver was very intricate person in agriculture development, as well as being a renowned scientist.  So be sure to put this exhibit on your calendar to come and check out in the coming weeks!!

And the winner of the Family Pass to the Durham Museum is....

See History while CWS Teams Make History

Time is running out to catch a glimpse of the Capture the Moment Exhibit at the Durham Museum.  Everyone can remember where they were at when certain historical events took place, and yet sometimes we try to forget.  The Durham Museum is very proud to be have the Capture the Moment exhibit here in Omaha.  Not every museum has the space nor the ability to house this massive exhibit in the way that it should be.  With dozens and dozens of photographs dating back to first half of the 19th century, the Durham Museum displays these photos in the perfect way.

Allowing visitors enough space to take a step back and truly dive into the photo and immerse themselves in it.  Having the right amount of space between photographs allows people to only see one at a time rather than feeling bombarded with clutter.  Even the creator and curator of the exhibit, Cyma Rubin, feels that this is exactly how the exhibit should be laid out.

These photos are truly iconic images caught on film.  Not only do these photos have the ability to envoke emotion in the viewer but also are timeless.  Every generation, from older to the post-adolescents(exhibit may be too graphic for young children), will have the ability to find an image that they can relate to.  Images like, Lee Harvey Oswald being shot, Regan’s Attempted Assassination, Electing America’s First Black President.  The range of emotions this exhibit can feel like a roller coaster, tearing up, laughing, respect, pride, and almost every other emotion will be felt.  One thing to absolutely take away from this is, every photo is timeless and to be cherished in its own way.

Keep the Durham Museum in mind while you are downtown for the Mens College World Series.  Its great place to witness some history while keeping  the kids entertained in between games at TD Ameritrade Park.
