Fearless

“Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers but to be fearless in facing them.  Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain, but for the heart to conquer it.  Let me not look for allies in life’s battlefield but to my own strength.  Let me not cave in.”      Rabindranath Tagore

Deep within us all is a place where fearless lives.  It is our innermost essence.  Our soul.  This place where fearless lives knows that life is not about possessing and holding on, but about learning and letting go.  It lives for the adventure of experiencing and learning.  This place where fearless lives knows we have a unique destiny that our soul brings forward each day.

We are all heroes of this story we are living.  We all have our own dragons to slay and obstacles to overcome.  It’s not always pretty, but somehow we find a way to move through these challenges.    It’s not always by other people’s standards or even in our own timeframe.  But, we do it in perfect timing.  And our soul brings forward the exact right situation and person for the next step in our journey.

We have all shown our ability to be fearless, even if it doesn’t take the form of large heroic deeds.  As Mary Anne Radmacher states, “Courage doesn’t always roar.  Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I’ll try again tomorrow.”  If you look back over your life you will see many times in your life where you tapped into that place of fearless and made it through another day, even when you thought there was no more hope.  When a part of you wanted to give up, you may have heard the voice of fearless say, “It’s okay.  You can do this.”   You may see all those small or large acts of being fearless that are part of your journey.

Also inside us all lives a place of fear.  This place of fear believes that the world is not a safe place.  That we’re not strong enough to handle the difficulties we’re facing.  It believes that our safety lies in things and people outside of ourselves.  Fear would have us believe that we’re in this all alone and that we need to defend and justify what we do and who we are so that people love and accept us.  You may have heard the voice of fear say things such as “What if I make a mistake?  What if they get mad at me?  This is too much for me to handle.  It’s all my fault.”  As you look at your life you may see many times when you let the voice of fear guide you.

This journey is about learning which voice to listen to….which one to trust.  We can spend a long time finding out who we’re not before we discover who we are.

Our true voice which is soul brings forward the fearless in us when we…

  • make room in our heart for all parts of ourselves, all the choices we’ve made and love it all.
  • are willing to follow our heart’s desire, even with no guarantee of success.
  • sacrifice our need for approval and perfection.
  • let go of old patterns, conditioning, addictions.
  • are willing to love again, even after betrayal or hurt.
  • learn to surrender to what is and let go of resistance.
  • take action when it’s needed, even if it’s not a popular decision.
  • are able to forgive and move on.
  • are willing to stand up for what we believe despite judgment from others
  • make our honoring ourselves more important than the opinion of others.
  • are able to see our own worth and know that we’re Divine.

Being fearless is learning to trust our soul’s agenda.  It’s allowing for fear and moving forward anyway.

There are some lyrics from a song called Do It Anyway by Martina McBride that speak to being fearless.

You can spend your whole life building something from nothing
One storm can come and blow it all away ... build it anyway
You can chase a dream that seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way ... dream it anyway
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/m/martina_mcbride/do_it_anyway.html ]
This worlds gone crazy and it's hard to believe,
That tomorrow will be better than today ... believe it anyway
You can love someone with all your heart, for all the right reasons
And in a moment they can choose to walk away ... love them anyway

You can pour your soul out singing a song you believe in
That tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway.

God is great, but sometimes life ain't good
And when I pray it doesn't always turn out like I think it should
But I do it anyway.

I sing ... I dream ... I love ... Anyway

Maybe that’s the lesson fearless has for us.  To have the courage to take that next step, to follow our heart, even with no guarantees of approval or success.  To listen to the voice that loves us, believes in us and guides us on our path.

May we all have a fearless joy filled adventure on our journey.

 In the Flow

“Everything in the Universe has a purpose. Indeed, the invisible intelligence that flows through everything in a purposeful fashion is also flowing through you.” Wayne Dyer

There is a flow to life that is always available to us. It’s like a river that weaves its way through our timeline, bringing forward exactly the right people and situations for our learning. We can open to this flow and go through life with grace and ease, or resist it and feel as though life is too hard and always a struggle. The energy inside of us that connects us to this flow is our Soul. The Soul is aware of this matrix of perfection and sees life as a great adventure. When we ride the wave of being in this divine energy we can relax and trust that everything is unfolding exactly the way it is supposed to.

Have you ever had those days or periods of time in your life when everything just seemed to fall into place? When your loving comes forward, even to those who haven’t “earned it.” Or, maybe you’ve experienced a sense of peace even when things don’t go as expected. And you have a feeling of trust, even during very difficult times, knowing that you’ll be able to handle what comes your way. Many people would define being in the flow in different ways, but most understand what that feeling is.

Or, maybe you’re more familiar with those times when life just seems like a struggle. When it’s one thing after another, and nothing ever goes your way. The day starts off bad and continues to go downhill, and if anything can go wrong it will. It feels as though you’re walking around with a black cloud over your head. Most of us also know what it feels like when we’re not in the flow.

Being in the flow is our natural state. It comes from trusting our instincts, honoring our body’s natural rhythms, knowing there’s a force greater than ourselves at work in our lives. It happens when we go through our day with our heart open and tuning into our Soul’s energy. Going against the flow happens when we go on autopilot and are guided by past conditioning, other people’s opinions, or our own fears and insecurities, living in the past or the future.

Being in the flow means being in a place of acceptance. Acceptance of change, of loss, of people doing things differently than us. Acceptance of who we are and the choices we’ve made in life, knowing we did the best that we could at the time. We go against this flow when we get into judgment, negativity or impatience. Each of us has our own ways of trying to control circumstances and people in our lives, or of staying stuck in the past through our resentment, blame and guilt.

Being in the flow is not necessarily about doing. Sometimes being in the flow is the absence of doing. Sometimes it’s just being. Of allowing space for stillness and being in that sacred space of no time or expectations. Just stepping forward into what our heart and soul has placed in front of us.

We cling to the safety and security of the moment, not wanting to move on to the next. We cling to our current set of circumstances and people, even while we judge them. All the while trying to block the perfection of how life is set up.

Each day needs to involve a little bit of letting go and a little bit of opening up to receive. Learn to co-operate with this Divine flow. Let go of the struggle. Let go of the hold you have on how you think things should be. We have learned to resist what doesn’t fit into our perception of what is supposed to be present. We blame situations and people if we’re not at peace or feeling fulfilled. We disconnect from our own flow of life, looking from the outside, waiting for someone or something to make it right.

People who are in the flow consistently have some characteristics in common, although they express who they are in various ways:

  • They feel a sense of purpose to their days. They have a higher intention for their lives and make that their priority, sacrificing the negativity throughout the day to live their intention
  • They feel a part of something greater than themselves.
  • They see change as a challenge rather than a threat. They don’t get caught up in “This isn’t fair”, or looking for someone to blame. They ask themselves what they need in order to deal with it.

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them – that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” - Lao-Tzu

To consistently be in the flow of life means surrendering to what is, taking action when needed, listening to what your body is telling you and living in the moment. Bring loving into what you do instead of waiting for something you love to do to just show up. If you feel stuck, ask yourself some of the following questions to help you:

What am I resisting?

What am I judging?

What am I trying to control?

What am I afraid of here?

What am I trying to defend, prove or justify?

What am I making more important than my soul?

Am I willing to sacrifice this negativity in order to be in the flow?

Our lower nature reacts, rejects and resists. Our Soul relaxes into the perfection of what is.

May we all walk in the Light with our heart open, loving what is.

“In my dream, the angel shrugged and said, “If we fail this time, it will be a failure of imagination.”

And then she placed the world gently in the palm of my hand.”  Brian Andreas

We are all powerful creators. Often we just create in a negative way. Part of why we’re here in this physical form is to learn to use this power consciously in ways that serve our highest good. Some of you have heard of the Law of Attraction.  Simply put, the law of attraction is whatever goes out comes back. Think of all of our thoughts, feelings and beliefs operating at different levels of energy, different vibrations.  If we send out negativity or lower vibrations into the world through our thoughts and emotions, that level of negativity or vibration comes back to us.  If we send out positive energy into the world and to other people, we attract that back.  We are held responsible for what we create. That’s not a form of punishment.  It’s simply how the Universe is structured.  Let’s look at some of the ways we create our reality through thoughts, emotions, and beliefs.

Think about your thought patterns for a moment.  How negative or positive do they tend to be?  When you think of something that might happen in the future or that you want in your life, do you immediately create a positive or negative image about it or about yourself?  There is an unconscious part of us that absolutely listens to everything we say.  If we continuously create negativity through our thoughts and hold judgments against ourselves and others, it listens to us and puts energy into creating that.  So, if we’re holding an image of not being able to do something or continuing to think in a negative way about it, guess what we create?  The thoughts we have send a message to ourselves about who we are, hold a focus for what we create and help determine the level of vibration in our bodies.  We can help create our own health and vitality by holding a positive attitude towards ourselves and others as that affects the quality and function of each cell in our body.  If you use your thoughts and internal images as a reference point for what you’re creating, are they helping you create what you want or more of what you don’t want?

The feelings we experience are often the result of the thoughts that we’re having.  However, sometimes these thoughts are so automatic that we’re not aware of them and can’t connect them as the cause of our feelings.  The feelings we have are what carry the vibration out into the world and help create both our inner and outer experience.  If we have an outcome we wish to manifest and feel very joyful and enthusiastic about it, the vibration we send out around that outcome is very strong and clear, and we are more apt to create that in our reality if it is for our highest good.  On the other hand, if we have an outcome that we’re uncertain, apathetic or hold doubt about, it may remain a long time in the ethers.  Think about the feelings you experience on a regular basis. Think about any negativity you may be holding on to from the past.  What are you attracting into your life because of the vibrations you’re sending out?

The beliefs we hold are also a powerful factor in the creation of our reality. Beliefs form the foundation of our view of the world and our reactions to events. Often these are on an unconscious level.  Our beliefs allow in love and abundance or keep us stuck in unsatisfactory relationships and scarcity. They can help us move forward or sabotage our change. The beliefs we hold shape our behaviors, our perceptions, our concept of who we are, and the patterns we keep repeating. Examples of beliefs that empower us are “I trust the decisions I make….I am capable of handling life on my own…I deserve abundance.”  Examples of beliefs that are limiting or hold us back include, “I’m not good enough…I must be perfect…Everyone must approve of what I do.”  Change is difficult if there is an unconscious limiting belief holding the old pattern in place. According to Tony Robbins, “What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability.  It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are.”  Think about the beliefs you hold about money, relationships, and your own worthiness.  What are you creating with your beliefs?

So, how do we become conscious creators?  Here are some suggestions:

  • Become aware of your thoughts and channel them to a more positive focus.
  • Deal honestly with your feelings and get help in letting go, if necessary.
  • Set your intention to let go of judgments.
  • Hold images in your mind of what you want more of.
  • At the end of the day, ask yourself, “How did I create, promote or allow the experiences I had today?”  (Be honest with yourself)
  • Forgive yourself for believing you are less than Divine
  • Hold the highest vision of yourself, and be devoted to that daily.
  • Love yourself no matter what.

Life begins to flow when we learn to honor our path by loving who we are on it.  Use wisely your power of creation.

May we all awaken from the dream of our inadequate selves.

Loyalty To Your Soul

By Dixie Clark

.

“Loyalty to your soul means entering this Divine union and being devoted to that, no matter what.”

One definition of loyalty is a feeling of devotion or attachment to someone or something. We can have loyalty to our country, our family, a sports team a spouse or friend. If asked to describe themselves, many people would state the quality of loyalty as something they admire in themselves and others. If you were to consider that word, it would probably conjure up its own definition unique to you, as well as situations where you have been loyal, and times when you weren’t. Loyalty can come from a place of deep reverence or it can also come from a place of fear. And, just as our motivations for whom and what we’re loyal to are varied, so are the reasons we are disloyal. Today we will explore the aspect of loyalty to our soul.

There is a sacred energy within each of us, called the Soul, that connects us to the Divine. This soul consciousness holds the blueprint of what this life is all about for us, our purpose, the patterns we’re here to clear, the karma that awaits us, and the variety of people and choices that are scattered throughout our timeline. It attracts exactly the right situations and people into our lives for what we are to be learning and clearing. Everything in our lives is a reflection of what is going on in the deepest levels of our being. This is the consciousness that lives in unconditional loving and joy. It sees each experience we have as an opportunity to learn and grow and move beyond any limitations we have placed on ourselves. The soul holds no judgments, regrets, or shame. It doesn’t compare itself to other souls or hold any insecurities. It feels comfortable being in any setting, knowing it’s all perfect and magnificent on the highest level.

The soul energy being expressed can often be very subtle. So subtle that we often miss those moments when they’re here. Some of the qualities of the soul’s expression include loving, joy, enthusiasm, innocence, peace, acceptance, cooperation, service. Think back over the last month. When were those moments that you experienced any of those qualities? Whether you were alone, in nature, or with someone else. When were those moments when you let down your guard, opened your heart and your soul had a moment to express itself on this level? We all have them. It’s just that we can be so consumed with doing, caught up in negativity or judgment that we either miss these moments or suppress this energy.

The greatest demonstration of loyalty is that which comes from our Soul. This is a consciousness that never forsakes, judges or abandons. This energy is totally devoted, believes in us and will never abandon or betray us. It is a Divine energy that shines so brightly it would take our breath away were we to see it. A philosopher by the name of Josiah Royce wrote, “Unless you can find some sort of loyalty, you cannot find unity and peace in your active living.” We could take that to a higher level and say, unless we find loyalty to our soul we will always be seeking peace outside of ourselves. We will always be seeking to change and control events and people so that we feel loved, safe and secure. When our loyalty is to our soul, when we open up to and remain in the center of this loving energy that guides us, that is when we truly find unity and peace.

When we are devoted to that loving joyful place within us, we are willing to sacrifice judgment, sacrifice revenge, sacrifice insecurities and all negativity to allow that energy to come forward. To bring our True Self forward takes devotion and commitment on a daily basis. Loyalty to our soul means entering this Divine union and being devoted to that, no matter what.

Now, think about how loyal you are to your own Soul.

Loyalty to your Soul means:

-Being willing to sacrifice any negativity that would separate you from this Divine energy

- Listening to this deepest wisdom over the opinions and judgments of others

- Being steadfast in your belief in yourself

- Not letting others tell you you can’t do, be or have what you know to be true for you

- Not letting anyone take away your joy, enthusiasm or cause you to shut down your heart

- Aligning your actions and your consciousness with your Soul’s intent

-Being engaged in life and comfortable with who you are

- Making loving, joy, enthusiasm, acceptance and all those other qualities your priority

If there is no loving in what you’re doing, if there is no enthusiasm or joy, where are you placing your loyalty?

If you’re judging who you are, whose opinion are you making more important than that of your soul?

Are you placing your loyalty on the standards and expectations of others? On the thousands of should you’ve been told all your life and that now you repeat to yourself?

Are you being disloyal to your soul because something else is more important than that or because of fear of what others might think or how you might look?

What pulls you away from your own beauty and magnificence?

Start to become clear and aware of what’s blocking this energy from coming forward or from you noticing it more often.

Your Authentic Self

Written by Dixie Clark:

“The authentic self is the soul made visible. An authentic life is the most personal form of worship. Everyday life has become my prayer.” Quoted Sarah ban Breathnach

“The authentic self is the you that can be found at your absolute core. It is the part of you not defined by your job, function or role. It is the composite of all your skills, talents and wisdom. It is all of the things that are uniquely yours and need expression, rather than what you believe you are supposed to be and do.” Phil McGraw

Living in your authentic self is bringing the soul energy forward, and holding the highest vision of who you are. It means going beyond the roles we play, what we do and our past conditioning, and really moving into our truth. Even if our life seems ordinary, there is nothing ordinary about the essence of who we are.

We are multi dimensional beings learning on many levels in this lifetime. With each situation our soul gains experience as we continue to open to our own Divinity. Living in our authentic self is providing the vehicle for our soul’s expression. It is knowing that all of who we are is sacred. When we are being authentic, we have a self awareness of who we are beyond what we do. We are connected with our feelings and beliefs and are able to express them without fear. We believe we have the right to make our own decisions, based on our own inner guidance. We accept all parts of ourselves and where we’re at, and also know that we’ve only touched the surface of our potential. We experience a certain vibrant energy as we allow this life force to flow through us.

Here are some questions to help you assess your Authentic Self status. Keep in mind there is no right or wrong answer. We tend to step in and out of our true self. It is our nature to continue to evolve and to open up to this energy. In other words, we can’t not get there. These questions can serve to help you identify areas you may want to strengthen.

How comfortable are you making decisions for yourself? Do you listen to your own inner guidance or do you wait to be told by someone else or wait for their approval. Do you block yourself in following through until you get a guarantee of success?

How aware are you of your feelings and intentions in a situation? How comfortable do you feel expressing them?

Do you feel safe in being who you are with your friends and family, in new situations? Or, do you think you need to hold back and leave parts of you unexpressed?

What is your deepest heart’s desire? And, are you willing to pay the price to go after it?

Do you love who you are and what you bring to the world?

When you’ve made a mistake, are you able to learn from it and move on? Or do you dwell on it, feel guilty, or try to put the blame on someone else? And, are you able to let go of the mistakes of others?

While we’re in this physical body, we all have patterns that are blocking our authentic self from coming forward all the time. Here are a few:

1. Lack of awareness: Lack of awareness can come from going on autopilot, of not being fully present in the moment, of living in the past or the future and not aware of the present. This can also mean a lack of awareness of what we’re feeling, thinking or wanting in a situation. And either not hearing or trusting the inner guidance that’s available.

2. Past conditioning: Past conditioning includes beliefs such as: everyone must approve of what I do; it’s not okay for me to be different or to stand out; I’m not allowed to go after or get what I want; conflict is dangerous, so I always have to keep the peace; other people’s needs always come before mine.

3. Heart shut down/energy blocked: Many times we shut down our hearts in order to protect ourselves or hold a grudge against ourselves or others. Whenever we surround ourselves in our own negative energy or block the powerful life force of loving from flowing through us, we are blocking our authentic self from coming forward.

We can lose ourselves in others, become a chameleon to keep the peace, or become manipulative or aggressive in order to get our way. None of those are being authentic. Our authentic self has no need to hide and no need to defend or justify. We just are in each moment, bringing our best selves forward forgiving ourselves when we miss the mark, knowing it’s all part of learning who we are.

Alignment with Spirit is an ongoing challenge. But remember, your intention sets your direction, and as long as you are moving in the direction of your intention, you are doing all you need to. There is no need to make excuses, no need for apologies, just do what you can do. - John-Roger (From: Spiritual Warrior, The Art of Spiritual Living)

We can set our intention to live in our authentic self and open to our soul energy. To make our decisions each moment based on what we know is right for us. To bring our loving forward and keep our hearts open. To allow ourselves to be spontaneous and outrageous and joyous, even if we look foolish to others. To live in the joy of each moment…no doubt, no questions…only flight. And, feel at peace, knowing we’re enough.
